"Quotation marks" or "Scary Quotes" are symbols that are intended to indicate that the author is quoting the exact words said by another person. Due to information being able to be edited in a varied number of ways, it is impossible to believe anything you hear as a quote, as it could be that the author is just lying to you.

Due to the unreliability of quotation marks, the Conspiracy wiki has decided to use them as sarcasm marks. For example "the government" in quotation marks is clearly sarcasm, as it is illegitimate.
